Why did you get chickens? We were hooked by our neighbour, Louisa, who has chickens who kindly gave us fresh eggs regularly. My daughter, Cerys, persuaded my husband (it took about a year)to let us get chickens. She wrote out a contract that we would do all the work and he would get the eggs and that they would be protected from foxes which are often seen in our garden! So we got a pink Eglu as an early joint birthday present last April and had a chicken each for our birthday present, Minnie and CoCo. It has been a fantastic thing to enjoy together.
My husband and two sons saw what enjoyment we got from our girls, so two months ago we got a blue cube and added three more chickens. My daughter and I still do most of jobs (eglus are all such a good design they make cleaning out so quick and easy), but we don't mind, we love our girls and still love looking after the chickens together and especially collecting the eggs. We are pleased it's a family hobby now, we all have something in common. We have certainly become massive eglu fans.
What is their favourite food? Grapes
Do they have a party trick? When we take a bowl of kitchen scraps down to them the all fly up and try and sit on your arm to get at the bowl! Hollie chicken loves being carried around!
There could only be one choice of colour for the Eglu for Cerys - cerise!
Once the boys had decided they wanted some chickens of their own it had to be a blue Cube.
