Omlet fan and eggspert chicken keeper Lewis Wescott has had the fun job of testing a Qute for us recently, and he's written a blog post all about it. Lewis has been impressed with Omlet's latest product, saying it's a 'well built and robust chunky piece of furniture that doubles as a functioning small animal house'. He also thinks it makes a good bedside table for his alarm clock. Want to read more? Click here to see his blog.
Blogging is not the only thing Lewis has been up to lately – it appears he likes to spend his time dressing up as a chicken too. When he went on an Animal Science Social with Uni recently, there was an animal fancy dress theme, so he just had to go as one of his favourite feathered friends. We eggspect he suffered one or two chickens gags that night!

It's proven, the Eglu is a fantastic choice of Christmas present! Our Number 1 Chicken House was recently spotted in the Daily Telegraph Christmas Gift Guide. The Green Eglu Classic has been featured in the gifts for friends section, alongside a a case for the iPad, a beautiful perfume bottle and a rather swish chess board. But, what do they have to say about the Eglu? “Perfect for the urban gardener attempting The Good Life on the back of a postage stamp, this neat hen house was designed for the town garden, novice chicken owner and that egg-stra special eco-savvy individual.”
So go on...treat someone to the gift of keeping chickens this Christmas! You might even get a few eggs in return...
We had a brilliant response to our latest competition to win a Qute. It appears that it really is fast becoming the must-have hamster house this season.
Now, for the results... our lucky winners are Michelle Fuller and Jane Jeffery. Michelle posted a photo of her current hamster cage which is covered in tape to try and stop it falling apart. We couldn't bear the thought of Lucy the hamster having to live in such a shabby house and we can't wait to see what she thinks of her swanky new pad!
Our second winner, Jane, is already a big Omlet fan, with one Guinea Pig Eglu and Two Eglu Cubes already. She wanted to the win the Qute for the hamster rehomed by her father, who suffers from Alzeimer's. Qute is an ideal home for Jack hamster as it gives a great view of what the little chap is up to.
We couldn't go without mentioning the entry from Iona Powell though. Her inspired poetry has been chosen as our highly commended entry and you can read it by clicking here!
Egg Skelter – I love my Egg Skelter. It’s such a clever yet simple design which makes storing eggs in the order they need using so easy. New eggs are added to join others waiting in the queue and the oldest egg is always ready to be used up first. It comes in a lovely range of colours to suit all kitchens and looks very stylish on the worktop.
Dried Mealworms – It wouldn’t be Christmas if my hens didn’t have a packet of dried mealworms in their stocking. Full of protein, they are very good for the hens and they go absolutely mad for them and the best thing about them for me? They don’t wriggle! Watch your hens come running when they see you with a bag of mealworms in your hand!
Chicken Hand Puppet – These lovely fluffy chicken hand puppets make terrific stocking fillers for children. You won’t get any eggs from them but they will provide hours of imaginative play for little ones. The puppets are fully lined and washable too and are perfect for all kinds of activities.
Chicken Poop Lip Balm – This is a fabulous stocking filler for anyone. This really is great lip balm and doesn’t contain any chicken poop whatsoever so don’t be put off! Made with all natural ingredients, it is very soothing for sore, chapped lips and the lavender scent is just divine and makes a nice change from fruity flavours. A tube of Chicken Poop Lip Balm is perfect to pop in your pocket before venturing outside in the cold.
Qute – This is the ideal pet housing for hamsters or gerbils as it is really easy to clean and looks stylish in any room. There is plenty of space for your little pets to play in their own play area and they will love scampering up and down the tube and whizzing around on the wheel and when they are worn out from all that activity, the bedding section is a lovely cosy place for a snooze.

These christmas cards give a charming twist to the traditional nativity scene. There's the manger, the donkey and the ox...and then a few new additions - some chickens, an owl and some kittens, amongst lots of others. The perfect for anyone that likes animals.
Includes 12 cards and envelopes, and 10% of the proceeds go to the charity Breast Cancer Haven.
Christmas wouldn't be complete without some festive candles to light up the room and these tea lights are extra special. On each tea light stands a little Santa, complete with gifts and a lamp. In his jolly red suit he will look truly Christmassy in your home...the only problem is you might feel too guilty to light him!
This set includes 6 candles.
You won't find an egg cup more stylish than this. The eggspert shopper likes to spend most of her time checking out the latest styles to hit the high street, but even the busiest of shoppers need to stop for a bit of breakfast! Her favourite is boiled eggs - perfect for a healthy start to the day!
This would make a great gift for any little girl.
